Anstett Hall Opens
On March 17, Anstett Hall was formally opened and marked a special day for LCB. After many years of construction, the UO has a finished state-of-the-art business complex. Thank you to all the donors who helped with the college’s building project, which includes all the buildings in the Lillis Business Complex. None of the renovations to Anstett Hall would have been possible without all of them.
A special word of thanks goes to Hope Anstett for her gift and to the Oregon Legislature for also contributing significant resources to enable us to undertake the much need rejuvenation of these historic wings. Anstett Hall represents a successful coming together of public and private monies to advance business and education in the state of Oregon.
When Lillis Hall opened in October 2003, it far exceeded expectations and went a long way toward realizing the vision of providing students with a learning environment that mirrors forward-thinking curriculum. The opening of Anstett Hall elevates our facilities to the next level.
Originally built in 1916, Anstett Hall today has been thoroughly gutted and retrofitted to provide the facilities and spaces necessary for modern educational needs. It houses university classrooms and offices on the first floor and the college’s fiscal services office, PhD offices and meeting rooms and a larger space for undergraduate student guidance and counseling services on the second. The third floor serves as the new home for the Anstett Family Accounting Suite and will also house accounting and finance faculty.
Anstett incorporates many of the sustainable design elements as Lillis, including using recycled and natural materials where possible, day-lighting, occupancy sensors, and more. Technology upgrades have also modernized Anstett to provide a seamless educational environment with Lillis, Peterson and Chiles, further increasing integrated learning, amplify experiential education opportunities, and enhancing collaboration and interaction among faculty and students.
