Dr. Deana Dartt-Newton ’01, M.A.’03 Ph.D. ’09 Named Curator of Native-American Art at Portland Art Museum
Dr. Deana Dartt-Newton has been named the Portland Art Museum's curator of Native-American art. Dartt-Newton -- who is of Chumash ancestry -- will oversee the museum's Native-American collection, assemble exhibits and finish writing a book on Native-American culture. In an interview about the new post, Dartt-Newton, said that while she has always enjoyed analyzing art objects, her greatest joy as a curator has been working closely with the Native community's different tribes.
