Donald Picker ’53
Donald V. Picker ‘53, passed away September 23 after a brief illness, having been diagnosed with esophageal cancer late last March. At the time of his death Donald was a month short of 80, retired, and living in coastal Oregon. Donald was a graduate of the University of Oregon (class of '53) and made his career with the Newport Beach, California, Police Department as a Detective. He was the oldest of 3 sons of Sidney and Dorothy Picker, the 2nd of 11 grandchildren of David and Celia Picker on his father’s side, and the 1st of 6 grandchildren of Alexander and Ella Green on his mother’s side. Donald is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dorothy T. PIcker, their daughter Alexandria Picker, his son and daughter-in-law, Louis and Belinda Beresford Picker, three grandchildren, Jeffrey Picker, Michael Picker, and Galen Beresford-Picker, and 3 step-grandchildren, Braam, Zenzo, and Alekha Beresford, of Lincoln City or Portland, Oregon. Donald was also survived by his youngest brother, Alan Picker, who lives in Glasgow, Scotland as well as 4 nephews and nieces living in London (England), Boston (Mass.), and Sydney (Australia).
In accordance with Donald’s wishes there will be no funeral service; he will be quietly buried in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, and an informal memorial to remember him is planned for sometime in December.
