UO Alumni, Students, Faculty and Staff Bleed Green
November 4th-20th, 2010, the American Red Cross, Lane Memorial Blood Bank, Oregon State University Alumni Association and the University of Oregon Alumni Association will take part in a statewide, two-week campaign to increase community blood donations prior to the critical holiday period.
This is the ninth consecutive year of the award-winning partnership. Fans, students and alumni of both universities are encouraged to donate on behalf of their team November 4th-20th at any American Red Cross or Lane Memorial Blood Bank blood drive in Oregon. The university with the most submitted ballots will be announced on www.civilwarblooddrive.com prior to the Civil War game in Corvallis on December 4th. Make sure to let them know who you’re giving blood on behalf of; the Ducks of course!
Every day, there are people who count on blood to be available to help save lives. Accident victims, premature babies, people undergoing cancer treatment, organ recipients, and many others rely on the generosity of blood donors to ensure that blood is available when it's needed.
Every blood type is needed all the time. Common blood types are needed by the many patients who can use those types, while rare blood types are often in short supply. Donations are usually in short supply during the summer months and winter holiday season.
By donating blood at a Civil War Blood Drive you help ensure a constant and adequate blood supply for all those who may be in need. Your donation could help give a friend, a neighbor, or a member of your community another chance at life.
All presenting donors are eligible to enter a drawing for two tickets to the Civil War football game in Corvallis on Saturday, December 4th. The drawing will be held on Tuesday, November 23. The winner will be notified by phone or email as listed on the raffle entry form.
