The Duck Academy is an after school event at Fairfield Elementary for third through fifth grade students. The Academy will run the second Wednesday of each month from 3:00 – 4:30 pm and will offer students support with homework as well as a menu of different fun activities.

Students will have opportunities to receive homework help from 3:00 – 3:30 pm and can then sign-up for one of the activities led by an adult volunteer.

Activities might include:
  • Outdoor games
  • Open gym
  • Arts and crafts
  • Wood work
  • Book corner
  • Talent time
  • Musical opportunities
  • Plus more depending on volunteers' interest and skill set

This is an opportunity for students to explore different activities and interests that they can do after school as well as make positive connections with adults in our community.

The school is located in Eugene's Bethel Promise Neighborhood where we know that 82% of children entering kindergarten in the neighborhoods do not meet the early literacy benchmark, as compared to 56% across Lane County. The Lane County Promise Neighborhoods are incubators for the development and piloting of innovative programs.

Volunteers will need to pass a crimal background check. You can download the form at the Bethel School District website: http://www.bethel.k12.or.us/district/forms-and-documents/
