A Note from Tim Clevenger '86

Tim and Lisa Clevenger

Alumni,

At this time of year we hear from many of you about the costs of our away-game tailgates. This is an open note to discuss the issue honestly with you.

First, let me be direct... we lose money on every tailgate. That's difficult to imagine, huh? Well, we provide security, entertainment, portable toilets, tents, chairs, tables, food, utensils, servers, garbage and so much more... all from a set of approved vendors only. To top it off, most of the schools we visit require a user fee from us. You can see how it all adds up quickly. So imagine if you threw a party for 1,000 of your closest friends and you had all these expenses. You'd lose money too.

Second, we lose money because we don't charge the full cost of these events. We do this because it is essential to our mission...to provide UO alumni as many opportunities to maintain and foster their relationship with the University of Oregon. So this year you'll see the Duck Store on-site and you'll experience more entertainment, more UO officials to meet, more former athletes to greet, more Ducks, more information about the UO and more fun.

Finally, we are changing our offerings. By creating two price points we hope to have something for every alumnus. You can find out more about these offerings on our website.

Thank you for your commitment to the UO. And if you haven't been back to campus for awhile we encourage you to come visit your alma mater and the new Ford Alumni Center. In the mean time, we look forward to seeing you on the road at one of our tailgates.

Go Oregon!
